The members of the Landesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft re-elected Jens Schmidt, Commercial Director of Stadtwerke Gießen, to the Executive Board.

On 13 May, the representatives of the member companies of the Landesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft (LDEW) met for their upcoming meeting. An important item on the programme: the election of the Executive Board. Jens Schmidt, Commercial Director of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), once again received the confidence of the delegates and was re-elected to the LDEW Executive Board. He has now been a member of the board for almost four years.
The LDEW represents the interests of around 280 companies in the energy and water industry in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate vis-à-vis politicians, authorities and the public. In this way, the association acts as an important link between the utility industry, politics and society. The electricity and district heating, natural gas, drinking water and wastewater sectors are united under the umbrella of the LDEW.
"I am delighted to be able to continue to play an active role on the LDEW Board in shaping the framework conditions for a sustainable energy and water supply in Hesse," explains Jens Schmidt following his re-election. He adds: "In the current difficult times, we as an entire industry are showing very clearly that we are absolutely reliable partners." To ensure that the energy and water industry can continue to perform its work at this high level in the future, secure supply in difficult situations, continue to drive forward the energy transition and thus make its contribution to climate protection, Jens Schmidt believes that politicians must create reliable and sustainable political framework conditions. "This includes a fair return on investments in the energy grids, recognising our services to society and the economy as operators of critical infrastructure and promoting, rather than preventing, an energy, heating and transport transition in which we lead the way," demands Jens Schmidt.
At its constituent meeting following the General Assembly, the new LDEW Board of Directors confirmed Dr Constantin H. Alsheimer from Mainova AG in Frankfurt am Main as the Hessian LDEW Chairman. Udo Beckmann from EWR AG in Worms was elected as the new Rhineland-Palatinate LDEW Chairman.
