From 8 a.m. on Thursday morning, 18 January 2018, the access road to Frankfurter Straße in the area of the Elefantenklo will be closed to out-of-town traffic - probably until the early hours of Friday, 19 January. The reason for this is work on a gas pipe. An inspection of the gas network a few days ago revealed that a repair is necessary, which should be carried out as soon as possible.
Due to the closure in the lower section of Frankfurter Straße out of town, there will be disruptions to bus services from 8am. Several routes will have to be diverted via the surrounding roads. For car traffic, access to Alicenstraße between Frankfurter Straße and Bahnhofstraße will also change. For the duration of the work, it will be possible to drive into the city centre via Frankfurter Straße. The bollards that normally separate the carriageway will be removed at Alicenstraße. This will allow cars to turn left across the centre of the road into Alicenstraße.
Changes for several bus routes
The Liebigstraße stop on Frankfurter Straße will be cancelled for local bus services travelling out of the city. An alternative stop cannot be set up. Passengers travelling in the direction of Kleinlinden, Allendorf, Lützellinden and Wetzlar are requested to use the Johanneskirche or Friedrichstraße stops. Delays and cancellations are to be expected for the following lines: 1, 2, 11, GI-21, GI-22, 24, GI-41, GI-42, 371, 372, 375, 377 and 379
