City bus service temporarily restricted
Due to maintenance work on several vehicles, MIT.BUS is having to temporarily restrict its city bus services.
Getting from A to B safely and reliably by bus is an important prerequisite for many people in Giessen and the region when organising their everyday life and leisure time. Regular maintenance and safety checks of the buses are essential to ensure that this runs smoothly. This is the only way to ensure reliable and safe processes for passengers, staff and all road users.
During the last regular inspection, defects were found in some vehicles. At the same time, there are also fault reports for some vehicles. As a result, these buses can no longer be used on scheduled services for the time being. The number of buses currently unavailable exceeds the size of the reserve fleet. As a result, the Giessen city bus service cannot be offered in its usual form from Monday, 8 June 2026 until probably Friday, 12 June 2026. During this time, the buses will run according to the holiday timetable. This means that, in contrast to the regular timetable, there will no longer be any booster vehicles on school and lecture days - these journeys are marked with "S" and "V" in the route and timetables.
"The safety of our passengers and employees is our top priority. We are working flat out to rectify the defects and fully restore the local transport service," emphasises Mathias Carl, Managing Director of MIT.BUS, the local transport subsidiary of Stadtwerke Gießen.
MIT.BUS GmbH asks for your understanding for the necessary work and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
