On Friday, Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) organised an adventure trip for children through the Queckborn waterworks for the second time this year. Together with Ellen Rothgerber, a member of the private customer sales team, 45 curious children set off by bus from the SWG information centre on the market square to the Queckborn district of Grünberg. There, clown Ichmael delighted the young guests with his hands-on theatre.
Under the motto "The sun only boils with water", the children experienced an educational hands-on theatre show that was not short on fun. In addition to funny magic, which made the young guests laugh, clown Ichmael presented numerous physical and chemical experiments. The energetic laughter and learning theatre for young and old taught them how to handle drinking water. Clown Ichmael showed his audience how a tiny drop of water becomes a precious commodity. From the experiment table, the actors went on an adventure trip through the waterworks. The young guests followed the extraction and transport of water from well systems to pipe and pump systems to the tap. Afterwards, everyone was able to taste the precious water from the tap.
The adventure trip to the waterworks took place for the first time in March this year. What was then planned as a one-off event to mark Water Day proved very popular. For this reason, the municipal utilities decided to offer this adventure trip again.
Adults who would like to find out more about Giessen's drinking water supply should take advantage of a tour. Visitor groups can register Monday to Friday from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. by calling the service hotline on 0180 22 11 100.
