On Monday, 14 June, the city of Giessen will begin renovating the multi-storey car park in Lahnstraße near the train station. For an expected period of six months, this means that two of the four car park decks will be closed until the end of the year. To ensure that annual pass holders are not disadvantaged by the construction work, they will have priority over other car park users in case of doubt. This is assured by Stadtwerke Gießen, which is responsible for managing the car park. For this reason, the sale of weekly and monthly tickets will be temporarily suspended during the construction phase and access to the car park will be regulated according to the available parking capacity. Anyone who already has an annual pass for the multi-storey car park in Lahnstraße will be able to use it.
The Kneuer car park in the street "Am Güterbahnhof" directly behind the Lahnstraße multi-storey car park, where additional parking spaces have been specifically created, is an alternative option during the refurbishment. There are up to 120 spaces available for cars; weekly, monthly and annual tickets can also be purchased at the ticket machine. Other alternatives are the underground car park in the Bahnhofstraße post office building and the Liebig-Center and Karstadt multi-storey car parks.
