This summer, beautifully restored classic cars will once again attract tens of thousands to the Golden Oldies Festival in Krofdorf-Gleiberg. Of course, the Giessen public utility company will once again be organising its special shuttle service between Giessen and Wettenberg.

Curved shapes, lots of chrome, whitewall tyres and plenty of live music - the Golden Oldies' recipe for success is simple but effective. For three days - from 27 to 29 July - the owners of well-preserved classic cars show off their treasures. This is precisely what attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Wettenberg on the last weekend in July. Such a journey back in time has lost none of its charm.
The only downside is that all those travelling by car have to reckon with traffic jams and the lengthy search for a parking space. The organisers therefore recommend using public transport. As in previous years, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will once again be organising a shuttle service tailored to the needs of visitors. The shuttle buses will run every 30 minutes between Giessen and Wettenberg. The buses stop at platform 1 at the railway station.
The practical special buses run at the following times: Friday, 27 July from 18:00 to 23:30, Saturday, 28 July from 10:00 to 00:00 and Sunday, 29 July from 09:00 to 20:00. This means that the last buses from Wettenberg will depart from the Wiesenstraße stop in Krofdorf-Gleiberg on Friday at 23:57, on Saturday at 00:27 and on Sunday at 20:27 back in the direction of Giessen.
In Giessen, the buses will make the following stops: railway station (bus platform 1), Liebigstraße, Johanneskirche, Stadttheater, Marktplatz, Oswaldsgarten, Schützenstraße, Gleiberger Weg, Leimenkauter Weg and Hochhäuser. Passengers can also board the bus at the stops Gewerbepark Ost in Launsbach, Gewerbepark West, Seemühle, Klingelgarten, Wiesenstraße, Kronzenborner Weg and Wißmarer Straße in Krofdorf-Gleiberg.
For festival visitors using the shuttle service, there is once again an attractive special price: a day ticket for a return journey on the same day costs two euros. However, this offer only applies to the special bus service and not to the regular routes 800 and 802, which run on the usual routes in Giessen at the usual times. In Krofdorf-Gleiberg, route 802 will switch to an alternative route via Wiesenstraße and Kattenbachstraße from the start of operations on 27 July and then until the end of operations on 29 July due to the construction work for the festival. Passengers must expect restrictions for journeys on route 800 to and from Krofdorf-Gleiberg on Friday evening and Saturday evening. During this time, the buses will only stop at the stations Wiesenstraße, Kronzenborner Weg and Wißmarer Straße.
Passengers can find all information on stops and departure times in the special timetable for the Golden Oldies Festival - available from the Stadtwerke Gießen customer centre and on the SWG website at www.swg-verkehr.de.
