Due to extensive renovation work on Ludwigstraße, some buses will have to take a diversion.

On Monday, 7 November 2022, the fundamental renovation of Ludwigstraße will begin with the first construction phase. Due to this work, the carriageway will be fully closed from Ludwigsplatz to the Ludwigstraße/Bismarckstraße junction. As a result, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will have to reroute lines 3, 6, 13, LT9 and 802 in both directions.

The alternative route runs from the "Berliner Platz" bus stop via Grünberger Straße, Gutenbergstraße and Nahrungsberg to Bismarckstraße or in the opposite direction. For this reason, the SWG bus routes cannot call at the "Liebigschule" stop. SWG will set up a replacement bus stop on both sides of Nahrungsberg at Keplerstraße. The usual departure times for the "Liebigschule" stop will continue to apply here. The SATURN night bus will not be able to serve the "Liebigschule" and "Sternmark" stops for the duration of the closure for technical reasons.

Another line affected

The Wetzlar bus route 11 coming from Wetzlar in the direction of "Johanneskirche" will also have to be diverted as part of the construction work. It will continue from the "Friedrichstraße" stop in Frankfurter Straße via Frankfurter Straße, Südanlage, Ostanlage, Moltkestraße and Grünberger Straße to the "Berliner Platz" stop and then to the "Johanneskirche" stop. The buses will stop at the "Liebigstraße" and "Johanneskirche" stops instead. However, they will not be able to stop at the "Friedrichstraße" stop in Friedrichstraße, the "Röntgenstraße" stop and the "Uni-Hauptgebäude" stop in Ludwigstraße. These stops will have to be cancelled.

It is currently not possible to provide reliable information on the exact duration of the construction work. The only thing that is certain so far is that the work will continue until spring 2023.
