Legal dispute over local transport concession settled

Stadtwerke Gießen AG and VM Verkehrsgesellschaft Mittelhessen GmbH have settled the three-year legal dispute over the concession for public bus transport in Gießen by mutual agreement. VM has withdrawn the action against SWG's local transport concession, which is now pending in the third instance at the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig. This was announced today by both companies. This means that the commercial licence granted to Stadtwerke Gießen AG in May 2007 by the Giessen Regional Council for urban transport in Giessen until the end of 2014 is now final. The subsidiary of the nationwide transport company Abellio is no longer taking action against SWG's authorisation. SWG CEO Manfred Siekmann is delighted that the dispute over SWG's public transport licence for urban transport has come to a successful conclusion, which has been welcomed with relief by the employees of Stadtwerke and its local transport subsidiary MIT.BUS GmbH in particular: "We fought in full awareness of our responsibility for our employees and their jobs and ultimately achieved what we wanted." During the remaining four and a half years of the transport licence, SWG can now finally concentrate fully on the ride and do what it does best: Providing high-quality transport services that prioritise the interests and concerns of passengers.
