As always, there will be some changes to Giessen's city bus services over the holidays and between the years: on Christmas Eve, the SWG routes will run according to the Saturday timetable - but only until 5 pm. On the two Christmas holidays, the buses will run according to the familiar Sunday and public holiday timetable. On New Year's Eve, the city buses follow the Saturday timetable from the start of service until around 11.30 pm.
Important note for night owls: The Saturn and Venus night bus routes are cancelled from 24 December to 4 January. For New Year's Eve, there is an alternative shuttle service every 60 minutes.
New Year's Eve: get home safely by bus
For the night from New Year's Eve to New Year's Day, SWG has once again set up the popular New Year's Eve shuttle service, which will take revellers home safely and encourage them to give up their own car. A special timetable will operate between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on New Year's Eve. The three New Year's Eve bus routes run every 60 minutes within the city of Giessen and the municipality of Heuchelheim. The shuttle bus routes are detailed below:
New Year's Eve shuttle A
Line A runs via Berliner Platz, Schiffenberger Weg, Sandkauter Weg, Ohlebergsweg, Aulweg, Frankfurter Straße, Klein-Linden, Allendorf, Lützellinden and back via Klein-Linden, Frankfurter Straße to the starting point at Berliner Platz.'
New Year's Eve shuttle B
Line B starts at Berliner Platz and runs via Ostanlage, Marburger Straße, Wiesecker Weg, Wieseck, Philosophenwald, Grünberger Straße, Rödgener Straße, Rödgen, Licher Straße and then returns to Berliner Platz.
New Year's Eve shuttle C
Line C starts at Berliner Platz and travels via Eichgärtenviertel, Weststadt, Heuchelheim and Kinzenbach, returning to Berliner Platz.

Passengers can always obtain up-to-date information on changes to the timetable by calling the SWG service number 0641 708-1400, on the Internet at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de or directly at the mobility centre in the infoCentre on Gießen's market square. Opening hours of the mobility centre: Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mobility centre is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
