In Giessen and other Hessian cities, there may also be delays and cancellations on Thursday, 20 March and Friday, 21 March - in addition to the cancellations already announced on Wednesday. The reason: the trade union ver.di has called on the employees of private bus companies in Hesse to strike on Thursday and Friday. This includes the drivers of the subsidiary of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), MIT.BUS.
"Unfortunately, we cannot say whether there will be a strike and, if so, how long it will last. We don't have any precise information about the strategy," regrets Anne Müller-Kreutz, Head of SWG Local Transport Services. This means that passengers can expect all scheduled buses in Giessen and to Wettenberg to be cancelled from Wednesday up to and including Friday. Anne Müller-Kreutz therefore advises: "If you have the opportunity, you should look for an alternative during this period and inform yourself on the radio, in the newspaper or on the Internet."
Passengers can find out more about cancellations and the current strike situation at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de/verkehr, by calling the SWG service number 0800 23 02 100 or by calling the local transport control centre on 0641 708-1260. If you have any questions, the SWG local transport services staff at the customer centre on Marktplatz can also help you, opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
