Due to construction work at a junction on Westanlage, SWG is temporarily rerouting bus route 2.
From Thursday 23 May until probably 11 June 2024, construction work will be carried out at the junction of Westanlage and Gabelsbergerstraße. The associated work will result in lane closures. This disruption to traffic in itself would not affect the route of Line 2, but because long traffic jams are to be expected, those responsible at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) have decided to reroute Line 2. In this way, SWG wants to ensure that the buses reach their destination, the railway station, on schedule.
Unfortunately, the diversion means that the "Oswaldsgarten" stop cannot be reached in the direction of the railway station; instead, the "City-Center" stop will be served. In the direction of Eichendorffring, the "Bahnhofstraße" and "Oswaldsgarten" stops will be cancelled. Line 2 will stop at the "Katharinengasse" stop instead. There will also be a change to the timetable for the duration of the diversion: Journeys in the direction of Eichendorffring will start at the station two minutes later than usual.
