Giessen. There were happy faces on Friday, 23 September, when the prizes for this year's holiday games were awarded at the SWG energy consultancy on Giessen's market square. A total of 457 girls and boys between the ages of six and twelve from 15 municipalities in Central Hessen took part in the 18 holiday games this year. During the first weeks of the summer holidays, they learnt more about drinking water on the premises of the Giessen municipal utility company's waterworks in Queckborn. The focus was on environmental and water protection as well as the water cycle. The young winners were delighted to receive a games console, an MP3 player and a book voucher, presented by Michael Rösner from Stadtwerke Gießen.

Pauline Horn, Fernwald-Steinbach
2nd prize: an iPod nano
