Due to an action day on the Anlagenring on 14 May 2022, some SWG bus routes will have to be rerouted. The diversions only affect the coming Saturday.
Various groups have invited people to take part in the "Cycle route on the Anlagenring" day of action on 14 May. This event will have a massive impact on bus traffic. This is because the two inner lanes will be closed to all traffic from 8 am to around 6 pm. Consequently, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will have to reroute buses on lines 1, 2, 3/13, 5/15, 12 and GI-24 during this period. Lines 7, 9, 10 and 801/802 will follow the known routes.
The diversions in detail
Line 1 will run in the direction of Rödgen from the "Berliner Platz" stop via Marktplatz, Bahnhofstraße, Westanlage and Frankfurter Straße to the "Liebigstraße" stop. The "Johanneskirche" stop must be cancelled. Instead, the buses will stop at "Marktplatz". No diversion is necessary in the opposite direction.
Line 2 will run in the direction of Eichendorffring from the "Liebigstraße" stop via Südanlage to the "Berliner Platz" stop. The "Johanneskirche" stop will be served, the "Bahnhofstraße", "Oswaldsgarten" and "Marktplatz" stops cannot be approached. Line 2 will also remain on the regular route in the opposite direction.
Lines 3 and 13 will run in the direction of the cemetery from the "Berliner Platz" stop via Ostanlage, Nordanlage and Asterweg to the "Nordanlage" stop. As a result, the "Marktplatz" and "Oswaldsgarten" stops will have to be cancelled. Instead, the buses will serve the "Landgericht" stop.
There will be no changes in the direction of Schwarzacker/Schlangenzahl/Dialysis Centre.
Lines 5 and 15 will run in the direction of Greizer Straße/Burgenring from the "Liebigstraße" stop via Südanlage to the "Behördenzentrum" stop. This diversion prevents them from travelling to the "Bahnhofstraße" and "Marktplatz" stops. Instead, the buses will serve the "Johanneskirche" stop.
In the direction of the railway station, buses will run from the "Steinstraße" stop via Nordanlage to the "Oswaldsgarten" stop and continue via Neustadt and Bahnhofstraße to the "Bahnhof" stop. Due to this diversion, the stops "Landgericht", "Behördenzentrum" and "Marktplatz" will be cancelled. Alternatively, the buses will stop at "Nordanlage", "Oswaldsgarten" and "City-Center".
Route 12 will follow the Nordanlage from the "Steinstraße" stop to the "Schützenstraße" stop in the direction of the industrial area west. Here too, the stops "Landgericht", "Behördenzentrum", "Marktplatz" and "Oswaldsgarten" cannot be served. Instead, route 12 will make a stop at the "Nordanlage" stop.
Line GI-24 will be routed in the direction of the railway station after the "Oswaldsgarten" stop via Neustadt, Bahnhofstraße and Westanlage to the "Liebigstraße" stop. Due to this alternative route, the buses will not pass the "Marktplatz", "Stadttheater" and "Johanneskirche" stops. Alternatively, they will stop at the "City Centre" stop. In the opposite direction, everything will remain as usual.
