Stadtwerke Gießen has been supporting the Tour of Hope for many years with the "Extra Chance" raffle. Last Thursday, the winners received their prizes - free "Giessen green electricity".

All private customers of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) have been using nuclear-free and climate-friendly electricity since 2010 - known as "Gießener Grünstrom", which the three winners of the additional prize draw for the Tour der Hoffnung charity ride will now also receive free of charge for a certain period of time. On Thursday 28 March, Gerhard Becker and Volker Klein from the Tour of Hope organisation team and SWG company spokesperson Ina Weller presented the vouchers to Martina Fahrig from Rabenau-Allertshausen and Jessica Zimmermann from Pohlheim. They were delighted to receive 3500 and 2000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of "Giessen green electricity" respectively. The first-place winner, Holger Becker from Lich, who was unable to attend the official presentation, received a voucher for 5000 kilowatt hours (kWh).
As every year, SWG once again supported the cycling tour in 2012 in favour of children with cancer with the "Extra Chance" campaign. People from Giessen and the surrounding area bought around 8,000 raffle tickets at the SWG customer centre and during various events in order to make a contribution to the good cause.

SWG benefit concert in summer
To mark its 75th anniversary, Stadtwerke Gießen is supporting the Tour of Hope with a very special event as part of its 75 good deeds - an SWG charity concert on 29 June. The company will be presenting Nena, who has been a successful singer for 30 years, on the company premises in Lahnstraße. Tickets have recently gone on sale and all proceeds will go to the charity tour. Volker Klein, Sports Director of the Tour of Hope, and tour organiser Gerhard Becker made it clear at the prize-giving ceremony for the "extra chance" raffle: "Anyone who buys a ticket for the SWG charity concert can expect more than just a great show. All visitors to the event also help us in our work - the fight against cancer."
