Every year, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) collects donations for the Tour of Hope with its "Extra Chance" raffle. On Monday 30 January, SWG and the tour organisers presented the prizes to the three winners.
Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has been supporting the Tour of Hope for more than 20 years - and in very different ways. The "extra chance" prize draw contributes to the commitment to the charity tour. The company sells raffle tickets at the customer centre on the market square and during events where SWG has a stand - in 2016, more than 4,500 tickets were sold. All proceeds go to the charity tour, which raised just over 1.9 million euros in donations last year. The three winners of the "extra chance" raffle also contributed to this. They received their prizes on Monday 30 January.
A contribution to the fight against cancer
Gerhard Becker, Head of Organisation of the Tour of Hope, Sports Director Karsten Koch and Stephanie Orlik, Marketing Services & Sponsoring at SWG, thanked all donors and ticket buyers. Gerhard Becker and Karsten Koch emphasised that all kinds of commitment and every amount of money, no matter how small, helps in the fight against cancer. "We are delighted that so many people take the opportunity every year to support a great cause with a small effort in our raffle," explained Stephanie Orlik and congratulated the winners. Susanne Lenz-Appel from Kleinlinden received a voucher for 5000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of "Giessener Grünstrom", Jana Liedtke from Pohlheim a voucher for 3500 kWh of "Giessener Grünstrom" and Regina Feistkorn-Paetow from Giessen a voucher for 2000 kWh of "Giessener Grünstrom".
In 2017, SWG is once again offering people from the region an "extra chance" to fill the Tour of Hope donation pot. Stadtwerke Gießen will be selling the raffle tickets at all events with an SWG stand and also at the customer centre on the market square from the beginning of March to the end of September.
