Stadtwerke organises anniversary day on 29 June

To mark the 40th anniversary of the indoor swimming pool in Ringallee, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is organising an adventure day for young and old on Sunday, 29 June. The swimming pool will open its doors to visitors from 10 am to 6 pm. On this day, visitors can enjoy all the facilities in the indoor pool - including the sauna area - for just 7.50 euros. Reduced admission (5.50 euros) is available to anyone who brings along an advert coupon from the newspaper.

Colourful programme for everyone

On the anniversary day, Stadtwerke will be giving bathers the opportunity to play with various water games. Plenty of time has been set aside for enthusiastic jumpers to use the diving towers. For those who expect more from a visit to the pool than just swimming laps, SWG now has something completely new: aqua spinning. SWG's aqua fitness trainers will be presenting the new course programme exclusively.

Pure relaxation is the name of the game in the wellness area. The SWG team wants visitors to relax in the best possible way. Every sauna visitor receives a sauna guide, in which the various sauna methods are described. In the outdoor sauna, there are experience infusions with different flavours every two hours. Summery fruit creations are available for refreshment. Body scrubs with white chocolate, honey or other products can be tried out in the steam bath. The massage team demonstrates special massage techniques. Hot-sone, soap foam or head/shoulder/neck massages - there is something for every visitor. The "Poseidon" swimming pool restaurant also has plenty of culinary delights to offer. The wellness catering offers all kinds of finger food and soft drinks. Coffee and fresh waffles round off the culinary delights. Family-friendly prices go without saying.

In the foyer of the indoor pool, SWG will be offering bathing articles such as beach balls, swimming goggles, bathing shoes, shower towels, bathrobes and swimming costumes at favourable prices.

All visitors also have the chance to take part in a competition. They have to answer a riddle question.

40 years

On 29 June 1968, the Ringallee indoor pool opened its doors on the site of Giessen's outdoor pool, succeeding the popular Volksbad. However, what started 40 years ago has changed considerably in the meantime. What was originally a simple indoor pool with a sauna and massage area has become an attractive leisure pool with a modern wellness area. Around 200,000 visitors come to the Ringallee indoor pool every year to take advantage of the numerous offers. Since it was opened in 1968, the indoor pool has been extended to include a Kneipp facility, an aquagym training pool, a giant slide and a beauty and pedicure parlour. The sauna and massage area, the cash desk area, the ceiling and the grandstand in the indoor swimming pool have also been renovated.

Information on the anniversary day

The Stadtwerke would like to point out that the standard admission price of 7.50 euros - or a reduced price of 5.50 euros with an advertising coupon - will apply on 29 June. The usual admission prices and discounts do not apply on this day. Lane swimming will also not be possible on this day. Stadtwerke is looking forward to celebrating the anniversary together with the swimming pool visitors.
