The outdoor pool in Ringallee will soon close for the year. Instead, the indoor pool there now has a new pool for aqua fitness and a larger sauna area.

Giessen. An unusually cold swimming season is coming to an end in Giessen. After the pools in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden, the outdoor pool at the Ringallee bathing centre will also be closed from 10 September. The rainy summer of 2011 brought the three pools their lowest visitor numbers for years: Only around 71,000 guests visited the pools in Ringallee and in Lützellinden and Kleinlinden. In the 2010 season, which was also not particularly good, there were still around 120,000 visitors.

Ringallee with new active pool

Even if the outdoor pool season turned out to be rather modest for bathing enthusiasts and municipal utilities, there is reason for both to be happy. After all, SWG was able to use the summer to bring the indoor pool in Ringallee up to the latest state of the art. For example, the 25-metre pool was given a new filter system to improve the water quality. The biggest innovation, however, is of course the extension, which contains the new "active pool" with its many aqua fitness facilities. Aqua bikes, trampolines and treadmills - all of these are now available for underwater sports that are easy on the joints, including the corresponding courses. At the same time, the sauna area has been completely remodelled: There are now almost twice as many places there as well as a much larger outdoor area for relaxing and cooling off.
Opening times and further information can be found online at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de in the "Pools" section; to register for the various courses, call 0641 708-1411.
