Hundreds of visitors to this year's BAUExpo took part in the competition organised by Stadtwerke Gießen. The ten winners received their prizes on Tuesday, 13 May. They can look forward to reducing energy consumption within their own four walls in future.
Giessen. Around 90 per cent of energy consumption in German households is accounted for by heating the home and heating water. "There is great potential for savings in these areas in particular. Energy costs can be significantly reduced with comparatively small investments," explains Michael Rösner, Head of Sales for Private and Commercial Customers at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG). One example is hydronic balancing, in which the entire heating system or the flow of hot water is optimally adapted to the conditions of the building. "Only around one in ten heating systems in Germany is correctly adjusted and well harmonised. This doesn't involve a great deal of effort or high costs," assures Michael Rösner. In future, SWG will offer hydronic balancing as a component of the enerGIeßen package, in cooperation with the Gießen HVAC guild.
Presentation of the prize at the SWG customer centre
Michael Tornow from Giessen will soon also benefit from this service. He took his chance in the SWG competition at BAUExpo. The correct answer and a little luck helped him win the main prize, a voucher for hydraulic equalisation. Michael Rösner presented the prize at the official prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday, 13 May in the SWG customer centre. The second to fifth place winners each received a voucher for the "Heizungs-CheckPlus". This includes analysing heat generation, heat distribution and heat transfer in buildings. Such a comprehensive inspection serves as the basis for planning the subsequent optimisation or renovation of the heating system.
The same applies to energy advice, which is usually the first step on the road to greater energy efficiency. In discussions with homeowners, the SWG energy experts first assess the current situation in order to draw up a catalogue of measures. This ranges from a tariff check, changes in consumption behaviour and smaller investments such as replacing a heating pump to energy modernisation proposals such as replacing an outdated heating system with a modern condensing boiler. The sixth to tenth place winners of the SWG competition can look forward to this advice and the suggestions from the energy-saving specialists. Michael Rösner also presented them each with a corresponding voucher at the prize-giving ceremony on 13 May.
