Stadtwerke Gießen and the Gießen HVAC guild will be working even more closely together in future. At this year's BAUExpo, they presented a new component of the enerGIeßen service package - hydraulic balancing.
To ensure that the heating in your own four walls runs efficiently, its components must be set correctly and matched to the energy requirements of the house - from the boiler to the pump to the correct presetting of the thermostatic valves. This is not the case for around 90 per cent of heating systems.
A comparatively inexpensive approach to fulfilling the requirement in terms of efficiency: hydronic balancing.
"Most heating systems are not optimally adapted to the specific conditions of the building. One sign of this: Radiators remain cold in some rooms, while they heat other rooms more than desired," explains Michael Rösner, Head of Sales for Private and Commercial Customers at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG). During hydronic balancing, the installers adjust the flow rate of the heating water in each heat exchanger - including radiators and underfloor heating - to the heating requirement of the respective room so that all heat exchangers provide the required output according to the valve setting. "This means that in most cases, energy savings of around 15 per cent are possible with small measures and low costs," explains Sascha Reitz, deputy head of the guild.
Guild master Michael Berkowski lists the advantages: "The heating pump has to work less and all rooms are heated evenly, even with lower flow temperatures."
In future, SWG will offer hydronic balancing as part of the enerGIeßen package in collaboration with the Gießen HVAC guild. They presented the new joint service during a press conference at BAUExpo. "We are delighted to further institutionalise the cooperation with Stadtwerke Gießen - a plus point for everyone involved, but above all for the customers," emphasises Sascha Reitz.
Fast and uncomplicated assistance
As a contact partner, SWG provides information about hydronic balancing at the customer centre and selects a partner installer together with the customer. The relevant guild company then records all the necessary data on the heating system at the customer's home and passes it on to the experts at SWG. During a further appointment at the customer centre, the consultants discuss how the existing system can be improved by means of hydronic balancing and draw up a corresponding offer to optimise the heating system at a fixed price. Once the customer has placed the order, the installers get to work.
The special thing about this service is that customers also receive a comprehensive inspection report on heat generation, heat distribution and heat transfer in their building - equivalent to the "Heating Check Plus".
"Heating Check Plus". This can then be used to realise further savings potential in terms of the heating system. "Step by step and with little financial outlay, anyone can increase the energy efficiency of their own four walls," assures Michael Rösner.
